My Summary:
Two years ago, Aliénore of Solonge fled from her betrothal to Colin of Berkhamshire – a fierce and intimidating warrior with an equally fierce and intimidating reputation that has led scores of would-be-brides to flee – and her stepmother. Disguised as a knight and living in fear, Ali eventually finds herself back where she started – now under the tutelage none other than the Butcher of Berkhamshire. As Colin tries to build her into a more manly knight, Ali begins to see that there is more to this fierce man and his intimidating reputation. Something – someone – worth loving.

My Review:
This is my second time reading this book and it was just as good and sweet and lovely as I remembered.
From This Moment On is a true testament to the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover.” Ali is a strong protagonist who takes her fate into her own hand and tries to stay strong against the challenges she faces when life appears to unravel before her. I like how she, a high born lady, is willing to walk about in the mud and learn swordplay. Granted it’s in part to keep up appearance as a knight but still admirable. It’s wonderful and a bit frustrating (in a good way) to watch as Ali and Colin come to understand each other and what brought them to this point. Colin is adorable and funny – though don’t tell him that our he’ll see you repaid in the lists (haha). He’s a fun character to get to know – strong, honorable, self-assured (in a good way).
I’m happy to see old faces again (this happens in much of the de Piage and MacLeod books) and, of course, my three favorite…healers Berengaria, Magda and Nemain – these women are hilarious.
I really enjoyed re-reading this book. It was just the bit of romance I needed right now. I definitely recommend this and all of Lynn Kurland’s other books if you like romance (of a historical and paranormal nature), knights, chivalry, loving families, interesting and dynamic characters, and charming tales. Kurland is a talented storyteller and she writes so beautifully.
