ABOUT: I Am Enough is the picture book everyone needs

This is a gorgeous, lyrical ode to loving who you are, respecting others, and being kind to one another—from Empire actor and activist Grace Byers and talented newcomer artist Keturah A. Bobo.

This is the perfect gift for mothers and daughters, baby showers, and graduation.

We are all here for a purpose. We are more than enough. We just need to believe it.

What a nice story with a great message!

This story is told in rhyming couplets (abab, then aabb) and uses simple and welcoming illustrations to focus the reader’s attention. The text is made up of vivid similes young readers can easily picture.

The first line hooked me, “Like the sun, I’m here to shine.” It goes on in a confident, positive tone about how to live a life full of love and happiness you just need to be you – your authentic self – because that is enough and you are enough. The story also reminds me of Maya Angelou’s poem “Still I Rise” – strong, unapologetic, and uplifting.

If you’re ever feeling down or are having doubts, worries, or fears, I Am Enough is a nice pick-me-up of encouraging affirmations for all ages.
