Bookish Memes Top 10 Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday: 2021 Releases I Was Excited to Read But Didn’t Get

Top Ten Tuesday blog post

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and the Bookish, but is now run by That Artsy Reader Girl.

Which 2021 releases were you so excited to read but still haven’t gotten to yet?

Last year I read more new releases than any other year of blogging about books. And with a constantly changing mood-based tbr, it’s not surprising that there were an ample amount that I didn’t get to even though I was eager to read.

My Top 10 includes:

1. Steelstriker by Marie Lu

2. Maya and the Return of the Godlings by Rena Barron

3. One Jar of Magic by Corey Ann Haydu

4. Fairytales from Verania by TJ Klune

5. Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim

6. Rise Up from the Embers by Sara Raasch & Kristin Simmons

7. A Pack of Storms and Stars by Olivia Wildenstein

8. Ten Thousand Tries by Amy Makechnie

9. The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon

10. The Alpha Protocol by Duncan M. Hamilton

I’m trying to rectify this bookish travesty and have some of these on my current Winter TBR, which is basically made up of books I didn’t get to last year. I am determined to see this through, especially since I own much of these titles.

November 2020 New Book Releases

~ November 3 ~

THE ROYAL TUTOR is a delightful read. The princes are really coming into their own but there is still much to learn. I have volume 14 on my wish list, so hope to read this in January 2021. The cover for this volume is super cute!

SNOW WHITE WITH THE RED HAIR makes my heart so happy. More adventures await in this 10th volume. And just look how dashing Zen looks on the cover! I can’t wait to read continue this manga!

~ November 10 ~

A CUBAN GIRL’S GUIDE TO TEA AND TOMORROW sounds like a really good read. I hope to get to reading this book next year.

~ November 16 ~

I am looking forward to reading DARK ALPHA’S CARESS! I love this series and the covers for each book. Reapers series is a must read if you love paranormal romances.

~ November 17 ~

THE BRIGHT AND BREAKING SEA was a great seafaring adventure. I loved all the characters, the world-building, and slow-burn romance. Some situations resolved too easily or had underwhelming results, but I still enjoyed reading the book. [arc review]

~ November 24 ~

I have never read a Nora Roberts books. I’ve been meaning to try one of her books for years – now is the time! THE AWAKENING sounds super appealing and the cover is so pretty. This will definitely be a priority read in 2021.

THE PRINCESS KNIGHT was a good read with interesting new characters. Gemma and Quinn’s relationship is hilarious. The ending made me eager for the next book. Also, I am in love with this cover. [arc review]

What November releases are you most excited for?

As Always, Happy Reading!!!

About Books

I Bought More Books! Yay!

Happy Thursday, Bookworms!!!!

Even though I wasn’t supposed to for a long while I ended up buying more books. I couldn’t help it. The covers are so beautiful and the story sounds interesting. I was hooked before I even started reading.

From a Scholastic Book Fair I got Stepsister by Jennifer Donnelly and Nat Enough by Maria Scrivan. From Amazon, I order Ashlords by Scott Reintgen, which was my number buy for 2020.

I also want to share a book I recently won in a Goodreads Giveaway. I won an ARC of Wicked As You Wish by Rin Chupeco from Sourcebooks Fire.

This is special to me because it’s the first time I’ve won a giveaway on Goodreads AND it’s the first physical ARC I’ve gotten.

I’m still on a book buying ban! But these small treasures were worth it. All of these books will be on my April TBR.

Have you bought any new books or are you on a book buying ban???

And, As Always, Happy Reading!!!

Bookish Memes Waiting On Wednesday

Waiting On Wednesday – 11/6/19

Welcome to another Waiting On Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine, where you spotlight a highly anticipated book.

I am waiting on the publication of The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune (Mayr 19, 2020).

Image via Goodreads

ABOUT: Some people are extraordinary. Some are just extra. TJ Klune’s YA debut, The Extraordinaries, is a queer coming-of-age story about a fanboy with ADHD and the heroes he loves.

Nick Bell? Not extraordinary. But being the most popular fanfiction writer in the Extraordinaries fandom is a superpower, right?

After a chance encounter with Shadow Star, Nova City’s mightiest hero (and Nick’s biggest crush), Nick sets out to make himself extraordinary. And he’ll do it with or without the reluctant help of Seth Gray, Nick’s best friend (and maybe the love of his life).

Bookish Memes Waiting On Wednesday

Waiting On Wednesday – 10/16/19

This is my first Waiting On Wednesday, which is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine, where you spotlight a highly anticipated book.

Today, I am waiting on Your Lion Eyes by Christine Warren (Alphaville #2). I have been waiting for book 2 to be released for years because I loved the first book, Baby, I’m Howling For You, so much. But the date just kept getting pushed back. Your Lion Eyes is expected to be published December 25, 2020.

Image via Goodreads

ABOUT: Molly Buchanan is a lioness on the prowl. Unfortunately, since she’s been prowling through the same town for her entire life, she’s down to some pretty slim pickings in the dating department. But the minute she sets eyes on the new bachelor in town, her lioness starts to purr and plans to do some serious rubbing up against Grady Emerson.

Newly arrived in Alpha, Washington, Grady just wants to settle in and do his job as the town’s newest deputy. But even this rogue-bear sheriff knew Molly Buchanan was trouble the minute he laid eyes on her. She might be smoking hot, sharp as a tack, and funny as hell, but she is also his friend’s younger sister, and there are some things a good man just doesn’t do-no matter how much his bear might want to devour her.

Bookish Memes Down the TBR Hole

Down the TBR Hole

Good day, Bookworms!

Today I’m doing my first Down the TBR Hole meme. Down The TBR Hole is hosted by Lia @Lost in a Story. The goal is to clean your TBR of books you’re never going to read.

Here’s how it works:

⦁ Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.

⦁ Order on ascending date added.

Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.

Read the synopses of the books

⦁ Decide: keep it or should it go?

Battle Magic by Tamora Pierce
The Circle Reforged #3

I’m 75% sure I want to keep this book but I’m also unsure if, all all this time, that I won’t enjoy it as much I thought I would all those years ago. I’ll reevaluate this book next time I do this meme.

River of Dreams by Lynn Kurland
A Novel of the Nine Kingdoms #8

The series just isn’t the same anymore. Possibly around book 5 or 6 was when I started slowly losing interest. I love Lynn Kurlands books but I think I’m okay with not finishing this series. I would go back in read the first three books though – I really loved them.

Shadowstorm by Dianne Sylvan
Shadow World #6

I’m still interested in reading more of this series but I need to do it soon because the magic is starting to fade. If more months go by and I still have’t caught up, then I’ll more than likely remove it from my TBR.

Siege of Shadows by Sarah Raughley
Effigies #2

I don’t think I want to continue this trilogy. Not because book 1 was bad – book 1 was really good. I just don’t think I can bring myself to finish. It’s too much.

Thirteen Rising by Romina Russell
Zodiac #4

I need to finish this series because it’s so good. I have this book on my next book haul I’m doing. I’m positive it’s going to be a good read and need to stop putting off reading it.

As of this post, I have 163 books on my “to-read” shelf on Goodreads. From this post I’ve decided to keep 3 and remove 2 books.
