This is my first Top Ten Tuesday; I hope you like it!
Today’s prompt is: “Books On My TBR I’m Avoiding Reading and Why”
Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard (Red Queen, book 2)
Red Queen was so good and scary and angst-y that I have been anxiously putting it off. I really want to continue because I like Mare’s character and I predict more amazingly scary things will continue to happen in this series. Plus, the series is finished so it’s not like I would have to wait another million years to read the next book.
Siege of Shadows by Sarah Raughley (Effigies, book 2)
Pretty much have been avoiding this book for the same reasons I’ve been avoiding Glass Sword. I can be a real nervous reader sometimes.
River of Dreams by Lynn Kurland (A Novel of the Nine Kingdoms, book 8)
I got all the way to book 8 and just stopped. The first 3 books were everything; so good! Perhaps the shift in MCs every three books I just couldn’t keep up with or maybe I was just losing interest. I feel like if I kept reading I’d still like this series but I’m not sure. I’ve made two attempts to read it and they just never worked out for one reason or another.
Shadow Storm by Dianne Sylvan (Shadow World, book 6)
Again…another series I loved but have’t gotten around to continuing in years. I remember at the time between book 5 and 6 (i think?) the author went from publishing with a publisher to self-publishing. I never found out the details. I really want to keep going with this serious because serious stuff went down in the last book and I don’t want to lose all the fond memories I have of this serious.
Thirteen Rising by Romina Russell (Zodiac, book 4)
It’s the last book of the series and I still have not gotten to this book. For some reason my library got all the books but never got the 4th. So I was waiting for the “right time” to buy the book myself. Here I am years later and still haven’t bought/read it. The Zodiac series is perhaps one of my favorite YA Sci-fi/Fantasy series I’ve ever read.
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (Six of Crows, book 1)
I took it out from the library. It was a big book with black spray-painted edges. I got nervous. I returned it shortly after without having read a page. But it’s still on my TBR list so there’s hope!
Battle Magic by Tamora Pierce (The Circle Reforged, book 3)
This book is set in the universe of one of my all-time favorite series and it’s been collecting dust on my shelf for longer than I can remember. Another book I haven’t given up on and kept on my TBR.
Prophecy Awakened by Tamar Sloan (Prime Prophecy, book 2)
I read book 1 and loved it. I was really excited for book 2 but other books just kept popping up that I really wanted to read then and there, so I never got around to getting the book.
A Possibility of Whales by Karen Rivers
A book with a plot that I was really interested in but at the time other book finds were more interesting that I wanted to read. I still want to read this book though.
Ravensong by TJ Klune (Green Creek, book 2)
Technically, this book only counted up until last Friday. I had been avoiding it ever since I finished Wolfsong because I loved the first book so much and it was emotions and feelings that I wasn’t ready for more emotions and feelings I knew would be in book 2. I am a little more than halfway through and I am really really enjoying it, emotions and feelings and all.
